Guatemala, thank you for opening my heart 💞
One month of living and working in Guatemala.
What an amazing, life-changing, life-affirming experience. 🙏
I came to Guatemala to close out 2019 powerfully, and more importantly to bring some intentionality to the start of this new year and new decade (and to test out international digital nomading👩💻!).
I have BIG plans 🌟for these upcoming years, and I wanted a start to the year that was symbolic of that. And what an incredible trip it was! 🗺
Here are some highlights (in bullet format because GO nerds!!):
This month in Guatemala was so complete and my heart is so open as I head back to the US . This time was beautiful, inspiring, hard, and humbling. 💖
It reminded me what it's like to be excited about hot water 💦, electricity ⚡, consistent strong internet 💻, about not having to worry about brushing my teeth with tap water and thinking I'll get sick from it...
It was humbling. It reminded me how many things I have taken for granted. It showed me the ways I was acting entitled, rather than grateful. For this, I am grateful 🙏. To go home and be excited at the little things, that are little things for so many of us living in the US, but are not things that millions and billions around the world have access to.
To hear the stories of entrepreneurs here, and the hard, hard journey they've had to endure, the risks they have taken, the courage 🔥 they have shown in the face of obstacles.
It reminded me that we are all connected.
That we are in this together.
All of us.
We must walk this journey side by side. 🤝
It reminded me of the power of humility and compassion in bringing people together. In not seeing ourselves as separate from the other. That we are all after the same things 🌟: happiness, love, connection, safety, progress, a better life...
It taught me how important it is to keep working with entrepreneurs around the world 🗺. The great equalizer of our time is the internet 💻, I truly believe this, and I commit to sharing the tools of entrepreneurship with any and all entrepreneurs around the world that want to create a better world for themselves, their families, communities and the world.
We impact entrepreneurs, all around the globe, are in this together. I commit to doing what I can to help you reach your goals in progress and positive impact. 💯
Tomorrow, I will land in Houston, and the next morning I will be on another flight ✈- this time to San Francisco where I will get on another stage 🎙️and serve as emcee for an amazing organization I'm working with this year. It seems this is the year of stages, and I'm so excited. 😍
There might be some possibilities to keep doing international 🗺entrepreneurial training, and honestly guys, this bring tears to my eyes. THIS is what I worked for all my life. To find a medium, a vehicle for real change and transformation, that really empowers people to surpass their current life circumstances and difficulties. Entrepreneurship is that tool. 💥
This is how we change the world.
One person at a time, knowing they are limitless.
You knowing you are limitless. 🔥
Knowing that with the tools we have access too in today's world 👩💻🤳🏼, where 1700 people a day are becoming millionaires, there is nothing holding you back from creating the life you desire. I truly believe this. You are limitless.
I am more fired up than ever about this work that we are doing together.
My commitment steadfast.
Soul on fire 🔥 to empower an army of impact entrepreneurs around the world, so they can create the positive impact they see in the world - so we can tackle directly the world's most challenging issues - poverty, world hunger, lack of education, women's rights. 🌟🙌🔥
We are in this together, building a grassroots movement, one by one. 👊
Entrepreneur, hear me:
your voice matters,
please shine bright.
The world needs you 💯
I am here cheering you on always. Louder than ever. 🎉
Let's ROCK this year and decade 🔥
One Saturday I broke down crying in front of 200 strangers. I was exhausted, a little bitter, and on edge. ⛔️
The organizer asked me what “what lights you up, what would make you feel like you are full ✨from the inside out so you have more to give?”
Fighting back the tears, I fought with myself as to whether I should share the answer I REALLY had in mind. It seemed such a “selfish” answer.
Sobbing, and feeling such strong guilt at having this one desire I said, “I just want to be alone, I want no one to talk to me, I just want SILENCE. I’m soooooo tired. I’m exhausted. I’m always giving and right now I don’t have more to give. I’m showing up bitter, on edge, exhausted, and it’s not pretty for anyone, but I mostly feel crappy because I feel like I’m letting ME down.” 😔
I wanted to make a point for anyone else in that room that is a giver, any maybe YOU reading this post, that it’s NOT selfish to have needs and wants of YOUR OWN that we put ABOVE those of other people. 👊
I don’t know about you, but if I’m honest, I feel a brick-ton wall on my shoulders with the responsibility I’ve placed on myself. I did this. I placed that responsibility there. The responsibility of feeling like it’s on me to make it financially for my family, to be perfect, to never drop balls when it comes to my business, my commitment to impact at a global scale, my commitment to all those I serve, give, give, give, give. Empty. 😶
I forget the exact question that was asked, but it was along the lines of how will your loved ones suffer if you don’t step up. I got up to share what I thought was an unpopular and potentially taboo answer.
As a giver who’s always looking out for others, always GIVING, it wasn’t about what ELSE I could give to others, right there, in that moment sitting in that room, I had nothing more to give. I was run down to the ground, exhausted, on the brink of tears at any moment. Starting to feel bitter at the many things I have to be grateful for.
What I felt: Exhaustion. Run down. On the brink of tears. On edge. Having given so little to ME that I had no more to give. The cup didn’t runneth over. Empty. 😶
I wanted to share my perspective with the room, and with YOU in this newsletter, because I knew this perspective couldn’t just be my own, I knew that there were other women, coaches, and entrepreneurs in the room who would relate, and I’m sharing this here now:
1) to keep reminding myself that I HAVE to put myself first 🙋♀️, ahead of my family, clients, the world or I will run myself to the ground, and
2) to share in case this speaks directly to YOU 🙏
It’s not comfortable for me to share this here, but I know that many entrepreneurs, coaches, moms, fight a silent battle with themselves where we don’t feel like we should feel these feelings, and we definitely don’t share them.
➡️The story I bought into: you’re not supposed to put yourself above others’ needs. They’re indecent feelings to have.
My inner gremlins 👿:
- How dare you?
- Who do you think you are?
- How selfish to not respond right away
- You’re letting them down
- You haven’t earned the right to have time off for yourself yet
- They’re counting on you
- You’re the only one that can provide and take care of them
You know I’m here to be real with you and to share the ups AND downs of my personal journey.
We often just see the glamorous parts of peoples’ lives and sometimes that can lead to us feeling alone in our struggles.
So if this has resonated with you at all, know it’s not just you. I’ve been there too, and am constantly working on this aspect of my life. 🤷♀️
You see, I’m a coach, a sister, a daughter, team-leader. So many places to serve and care for others. I’m a giver by nature, I can’t help it, it goes against my nature NOT to care and give. I’ve always been the one who’s has stepped up to serve, and too often, I’ve equated being in that role of service as being responsible FOR OTHERS, which honestly isn’t fair to them nor me.
And if I’m honest, I don’t know about you, but often when I say no, when I put my own needs ahead of others’ I feel SHAME, I feel like I’m letting someone down, and that’s the last thing I want to do, let someone down. I’m such a lover, a giver, a performer, I hold myself to the standard of excellence…I don’t like to let people down.
But that has come at the price of letting MYSELF down, again, and again, and again. 😔
So now I’m speaking directly to YOU (and to me in the future when this might happen again).
LISTEN UP, you HAVE to put yourself first. 👊
… or everything else you do care about, and you work so hard for, will suffer and might just go to shit. You might go to shit. Your dreams, your health, your sanity, might go to shit.
🗣 Let me say that one again, YOU HAVE TO PUT YOURSELF FIRST.
It is NOT selfish to be self-interested 🙅♀️.
The most loving thing you can do for everyone in your life is to set boundaries, to get practiced at saying no. 🥰
I make it a point to make my coaching clients that they MUST put self-love days and times on their calendars, and it’s time I take my own medicine 🥄.
🙋♀️ It’s time you also listen up if this resonated with YOU.
I make a commitment to ME here, and I invite you to join me in this commitment too:
✨ I commit to putting myself first and not feeling selfish when I take care of ME
✨ I commit to putting my needs above those of my family, my clients, and all those I serve without feeling shame or guilt so when I serve them and LOVE on them, I’m doing so from a cup full of love, joy, and abundance
✨ I commit to sticking by my boundaries even if others are inconvenienced by them or it “let’s them down”
✨ I commit to only saying yes to something that is a HELL YES for me, even if it means someone else is disappointed or discomforted by my saying YES for myself
✨ I commit to adding space to love me EVERYDAY without feeling shame
✨ I commit to saying NO a LOT in this upcoming year, so each yes will be a more meaningful and empowered YES
✨ I commit to doing those things that light up my heart EVERY week without feeling shame
✨ I commit to taking time off every week and not feeling shameful about it
✨ I commit to NOT responding to everyone’s needs and wants immediately, and to respecting my boundaries
✨ I commit to being self-interested and not making me wrong for it
✨ I commit to communicating my boundaries with everyone in my life and sharing that these are non-negotiables, and not feeling guilty doing so
✨ I commit to taking time off every week
✨ I commit to making myself HAPPY
✨ I commit to having FUN
✨ I commit to the things that make me feel abundant and JOYFUL
Look, if I’m honest, these commitments are going to be HARD for me to keep to. But everything I desire and want depends on me showing up for myself and keeping myself healthy and HAPPY. 🙌
We’re in this together, but mostly, you’re in this with YOU. 👊
Please show up for you, love you, and do the things that make your heart sing.
Drop a 👊 if this spoke to you, and share what YOUR commitment to YOU is for the rest of the year and into 2020!

Let’s start the year on FIRE! 🔥🔥🔥
Ho, ho, ho! 🎅Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! 🤶
From my family to yours, I want to wish you a happy holiday season. 🎄
This Christmas, I want to share a family tradition with you all. 👪
As you all know, I am Mexican 🇲🇽, and family and unity are really important to us. One of my favorite things about the holidays is coming together to cook together. We make tamales, pozole, arroz con leche, and even more yummy Mexican dishes! It’s an entire day of cooking. 👩🍳
As Mexicans, we also celebrate the 24th instead of the 25th. On the 24th, we spend all day prepping and cooking, and at the stroke of midnight, 🕒we open presents! 🎁
One of my biggest presents, having been away and traveling, is to be with family during the holidays. My family has grown (my adorable niece 👶is one!), and we love to sit around the table playing board games for hours, enjoying all the food we’ve prepared.
On this holiday, I want to thank you for being part of my family and for the ways that we have walked on this journey together.
I wish each of you incredible happiness, wonder, gratitude, and magic this Christmas. I hope you take some time to really reflect on what’s most important in your life and to be really present with the people who are most important on your journey.
🎁May you laugh until your belly hurts.
🎁May you eat delicious, beautiful food.
🎁May you feel safe and loved.
Know that I love you 💚and I am so grateful for each of you in this community.
Happiest of holidays from my family to yours. I look forward to continuing to walk on this journey with you!
As a coach, it is my privilege to work with some seriously badass clients.
This week, I'd like to give a BIG SHOUT OUT TO Edwin Deras for your first $60K month! 🔥🔥🔥
When we started working together this new business was only an IDEA, and here you are today CRUSHING IT! 👊
This is what happens after a year of showing up INTENTIONALLY 💪 and keeping your eye on ball.
This is also what happens when you keeping investing in YOURSELF 🥳 and saying yes to the life that you are committed to creating. ⚡️
You have been so consistent all year and I'm so proud of the integrity you've shown in our many months of coaching together! What I've been most impressed by, however, is your levels of positivity, gratitude, and commitment to grow the love in your family and marriage! Wedding vows here you go!
It is such an honor and a privilege to get to be your coach, Edwin.
Anddddd, the year isn't over yet! We have some ambitious goals to crush by the end of the year, so let's go get it!! 🔥
Have you ever been to the dentist? 🦷
Do you sort of dread going to the dentist? 😨
Going to the dentist is one of those things that everyone has to do. When I moved from San Jose to San Francisco, I had to find a new dentist. 👩💻I searched online to find referrals and recommendations.
Where do we go to solve our problems?
📌Our Friends (and then the internet!)
Once I got to each dentist’s website, I found myself worried. Their websites weren’t inspiring trust. ❌ I needed to know their offices were clean, that they’d treat me right, that they were using up-to-date technology, etc. After months of research, none of those dentists made the cut. 🙅
Their online branding sucked. 👎
For years, I continued to drive down to San Jose every time I needed to go to the dentist.
The dentists in San Francisco could have been great! But online, you have 5 seconds with which to make an impression. Don’t have an ugly website - it’s 2019! 💻
When we engage with brands, we have emotional reactions. We don’t buy rationally; we buy emotionally. Your potential customers are not robots. 🤖They’re human beings reacting emotionally to your online presence. You’ve got 5 seconds to make the impression you want to make. 🕒
What impression are you making with your online branding? Is your branding up to snuff with your level of expertise?
Want to talk about your branding? I'd love to talk to you about making sure your branding is consistent with the value you bring your clients.
Here’s the short answer: yeah, sure!👌🏼
But if you’re asking this question, you already know there’s a lot more to it than that. Just because you CAN doesn’t necessarily mean you SHOULD. 🤔 Marketing to two different niches might work to uplevel your business to 6-7 figures, but it also might not be the right strategy for your business.
Right now, there are 4 HOT MARKETS:
In order to move people toward making a decision to work with you, you have to appeal to their need to change. The only thing that leads somebody to change is pain or pleasure. All four hot markets are areas rich with both pain and pleasure.
To launch into success, you want to work off a foundation/infrastructure that’s already working to your advantage. Being the only person in your field can be powerful, but can also create friction and obstacles to beginning. Most coaches and consultants should start in one of the already 🔥hot🔥 markets!
Once you choose your hot market, you’ll work your way down to a niche by choosing a market segment. Your market segment will present a number of available niches.
Market Segment: Business Coaching
Niche: Online Presence & Business Systems that Lead to Profit
When choosing your niche, ask yourself: what is your priority? 🤷🏻♀️ Making money in a shorter period of time as a newbie? Or continuing your established practice that’s already financially successful? If you’re looking to make money in a shorter period of time, niching down will make you more successful!
Suppose you have 🔟 soccer balls ⚽️ . For each soccer ball, there are 🔟 different angles to hit the ball. If you continue to try a different angle each time, you won’t become successful at any angle. If you’re focused on one angle, however, you’re going to get pretty good at getting the ball into the goal. 🙌🏻
Bring an offer that is complementary to the market! If someone exists that’s focused on Facebook Group Monetization and you’re focusing on Online Presence and Systems, your offers are complementary to one another and can work together in the same market segment. Make yourself and your offer irresistible to your chosen niche!
Can you succeed in two different niches? Absolutely.💁🏻♀️Is it the most effective way to spend your time, money, and energy, particularly as an emerging business? Probably not!🙅🏻♀️
✨THANK YOU. ✨
I am so grateful to each of you for being part of this community and this journey. 🙏
Many of you are entrepreneurs, coaches, and consultants. I want to thank you and recognize you for showing up. It’s not easy to show up over and over again, but you keep going. You keep showing up. You keep following your potential. 💯
👀I see you. 👀
I see how hard you work. I see the sacrifices you make to create a better tomorrow for your family, your loved ones, and your clients.
Back when I was a little girl, we moved to the United States from Mexico. When we first moved to the US, we moved into an apartment with 21 people. As a 9-year-old, that meant I had plenty of kids to play tag with. But the reality was that times were tough financially. We were the family that received a food basket for Thanksgiving because we didn’t have the money for food. At Christmas, we stood outside the Salvation Army because we couldn’t purchase Christmas presents.
This time of year is very special to me, because it serves as a reminder of how far I have come and how far my family has come. ❤️
I have so much gratitude for the journey of becoming.
I would love for you to reflect on your own journey of becoming, especially as we close out 2019.
🙋What are you grateful for this year?
🙋What are you grateful for in the last 10 years?
🙋What progress did you make this decade?
Focus on gratitude for the little things.
So often, we feel like if we don’t have the big thing we’re chasing, it’s not good enough. But gratitude is big and small. Let’s reflect on what we do have to be grateful for. 🤔
When I spent time in Mexico, I noticed gratitude that I didn’t recognize daily. I was grateful that at home in the US, I feel safe as a woman. I can rely on indoor plumbing. I have a safe place to sleep. I was awash in gratitude for the things that seem little from my perspective, but are really big things.
The experience reminded me of a story:
A man was told that he was going to lose his eyesight. 👀He had a tumor that needed to be operated on, and he’d made peace with his lot in life. After the surgery, the doctor woke him up and told him there was good news. It wasn’t a tumor, but a fungus. Removing the fungus did not impact his eyesight at all! It was the best day of his life 🙌 - he was so grateful for one more day to see his daughter’s smile, to see the beautiful trees, to look into his wife’s eyes. He’d taken all of those things for granted. What are you grateful for that you sometimes take for granted?
Share what you’re grateful for in our Facebook Group! 👩💻
Every business follows an arc. 📈There is a predictable journey of a business that very much resembles the development of a human being. 👶There are different stages and problems and issues you can learn to anticipate before you get to the next stage. This preparation will give you the peace of mind and the ability to be hyper-strategic about accelerating our progress along the arc of our business.
The Arc of a Business
📌Years 1-2: A hot mess
📌Years 3-4: Focus on operations leading to results. You’ll start to see more predictable results
📌Years 5-6: Focus on optimization
📌Years 6+: - Scale, scale, scale
You must spend time working on your business, not just in your business. 🕒To achieve this, you must be a business owner rather than an operator.
👩💻Are you a business owner or are you a business operator?👩💻
The vast majority of business owners are operators. The business cannot run without them. They say things like, “my business is my baby!” They fall in love with the products and services they offer instead of what their clients need from them. They are limited by what they can personally do.
Business owners enjoy more freedom with their businesses. They love their clients enough to research the trends and challenges in their industries and adjust their offers to address their most pressing needs. A business owner leverages their own ideas and the abilities and strengths of their team. In time, their team can run the company without them. They’re hiring strategically to build the team that can support what they’ve built.
You can become financially free 💸when you have a business that can run without you!
As entrepreneurs, we all want to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps. 💪But we must invest, and invest wisely, in ourselves in order to become financially successful and stable entrepreneurs. 💵 Toward the end of my conversation with Alex S. Elliot, I asked her what she’s learned from investing in herself. 💰See her words of wisdom below, and check out the full interview in my Facebook group!
When it came to running her business, Alex knew that she didn’t know enough. She reached the point in her business where she knew she had to learn from those with more knowledge in certain areas. 🧠
The question that she asked herself that made her first invest with a Facebook mentor was this: How would she differentiate herself and create something that hadn’t yet been created? ✏️
She wanted there to be enough difference and distinction that she knew she wouldn’t get it by studying one person’s material. For Alex, she realized she had to DO something different to GET something different. 👩💻
There’s something about spending money to invest in yourself that makes you deadly serious. 💸🤓
The power of mentorship and investing in yourself is real. You HAVE to be sure who you’re investing with - you need to align with their values and they need to do the thing you want to do. 🤝If not, they’re not the right person for you.
Again: if they haven’t guided others to where you want to go, they're not the guide you need!
When you hire a mentor, you buy their mistakes. You let them compress the time to success for you. Finding the perfect mentors takes research! Do your due diligence - look up the folks listed in their testimonials. Ask questions before you invest. 🙋
Get out there and invest in yourself wisely! You deserve investment AND the success that comes from a good investment! 🤩
